Wildermyth was nominated for Ultimate Game of the Year, PC Game of the Year, Best Indie Game and Best Storytelling at the 39th Annual Golden Joystick Awards. Praise was mainly directed to the game's use of procedural generation for character development and storytelling. The game received "generally favourable reviews" according to review aggregator Metacritic with a Metascore of 87, based on 22 Critic Reviews. A Nintendo Switch version of the game is currently in development. While Worldwalker was expected to release the 1.0 version of the game within six months after its initial launch, the game was released in full on June 15, 2021. These characters will also form both friendship or rival relationship with each other, and will age as time progresses. Gradually, these character will grow into battle-hardened heroes and acquire new traits, which will lead to both additional narrative and gameplay opportunities.
